Honduras 18 Conejo Washed Organic Espresso Light

In 1990, Elías Samuel Zelaya Siembra was the first organic coffee producer in Marcala with his coffee farm. Through his commitment, he made a significant contribution to the development of organic farming in the region and was able to convince many other producers to join a sustainable farming approach. In 2012, a biodynamic farming association was finally established.
The name “18 Conejo” comes from the Mayan calendar and reflects the centuries-old cosmological knowledge of the Maya in biodynamic farming. Honduras 18 Conejo is currently produced by 11 different farming groups, including Luna Jaguar, El Caracol, Las Huertas, Dulce Luna, Las Mandarinas, El Conejo, San José, La Fernanda, El Beneficio, Alfa y Omega, and El Granadillo. The coffee is brought together at the El Beneficio washing station before processing.
The families make their living from the land they farm and benefit from both an improved microclimate and nutrient-rich soils—as does the coffee.
