This coffee is produced by Maria Ilda Garcia Aguirre on her farm El Porvenir, located in Picacho de Masaguara, Intibucá, Honduras.
Maria cultivates 3 hectares of coffee at 1,750 metres above sea level, growing the IH-90 variety in clay soil. Her annual production is around 25 bags, making this a small and personal production.
For Maria, coffee is a family effort. She credits her children and husband for supporting her journey into specialty coffee, and her dedication is clearly reflected in the quality of her work.
Maria is strongly committed to improving her production and moving further into specialty coffee. Selling coffee at low prices makes it difficult for many farmers to support their families, and her ambition is to continue developing the farm, improve quality, and create a better future for her family.
Her next goal is to build solar dryers, giving her even more control over drying and quality.
