From Hesse to Mexico – in 1980, Rainer Böhme emigrated to Chiapas, Mexico, where he founded Finca Fulda with his wife, Ibbeth, in honor of his hometown. On their farm, they work together to provide education, food, and medical care for more than 500 employees and their families. They also treat the environment with respect, using sustainable and resource-efficient farming methods. To avoid dependence on short-term market price fluctuations, a fixed price was agreed upon with Rainer in 2018, providing both sides with planning and price certainty while preserving the quality of his beans. At the time, this price was 245% above the world market price; on the contract date, due to short-term fluctuations, it was 1 cent below. For us, this is the most honest model for long-term collaboration on equal terms.
