Café du Costa Rica – Région Los Santos

An exceptional coffee from the Los Santos region, known for its clay soil and ideal altitude, which are conducive to growing high-quality beans. The coffee is made up of the Catuai rouge and Caturra rouge varieties, both selected for their unique flavor profiles.

Grown primarily by the Castro family since the 1970s, this coffee benefits from expertise passed down through generations. The cherries are harvested exclusively by hand between December and February, ensuring careful selection of fruit at optimal ripeness. After meticulous flotation to remove impurities, the cherries are washed and pulped before being traditionally dried on patios.

The care taken at every stage of processing, combined with the growing altitude (between 1,400 and 1,600 meters), gives this coffee incomparable aromatic complexity. Although this year’s yield is lower than last year’s, quality remains a priority for the Castro family, ensuring the beans are sorted by size, density, and color, ready to offer a harmonious and balanced taste experience.
