Café Maragogype Nicaragua

This coffee is produced in the heart of the Dipilto Mountains, near the border with Honduras. It is grown in sandy soil at an altitude of 1,200 to 1,700 meters. The coffee trees are grown under shade (70% with a variety of tree species), and the soil and plants are fertilized in an environmentally friendly way. This coffee is wet-processed. The cherries harvested from the highest part of the farm are prepared using the wet method. The process is fairly traditional: the cherries are depulped, fermented, washed, and then dried on a patio. The farm where this family-produced coffee is grown benefits from a microclimate that favors the production of specialty coffee. This producer has participated several times in the Nicaragua Cup of Excellence. In 2014, they reached second place.
