Vietnam’s geography
Vietnam, a country in Southeast Asia, borders Cambodia, Laos, and the South China Sea.
A land made for coffee growing
This S-shaped country encompasses a wide variety of landscapes, from highlands to coastal plains, as well as mountains covered in tropical forests. This geographic and climatic diversity supports rich and varied agriculture. The highlands, located mainly in central and southern Vietnam, play a key role in agricultural production. These fertile lands are particularly well suited to growing coffee. The provinces of Lâm Đồng and Đắk Lắk are among those renowned for their coffee plantations.
Vietnam, a remarkable country
With a temperate climate and rich soils, these regions are home to high-quality coffee varieties, particularly Arabica and Robusta. Vietnam’s geography is not limited to its mountains and plateaus. The capital, Hanoi, is in the north, near the Red River Delta. This bustling urban center reflects the country’s history and economic development. Alongside Hanoi, other areas, such as Maison du Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City, are hubs of dynamic cultural and commercial exchange.
Coffee in Vietnam
Coffee plays a central role in Vietnam’s economy. The world’s second-largest exporter, Vietnam is a key player in the international market.
Origins
Coffee growing in Vietnam dates back to the 19th century, when it was introduced by French colonists. Since then, the country has become a leader, particularly thanks to its Robusta production. Catimor is not a Robusta coffee but an Arabica, a cross between Timor and Caturra that grows in forests. Producers in this province aim for a unique taste. Coffee beans from this region are among the most renowned in Vietnam.
Producers dedicated to their coffee
Vietnamese coffee production relies on a carefully managed process, from planting the coffee trees to roasting. Farmers closely monitor the ripeness of coffee cherries to ensure the best quality. The aromas that develop in the beans depend on the care given at every stage, from cultivation to the cup. In addition, traditional techniques combined with modern innovations help maintain high standards of safety and quality. Special mention should be made of Rong Keo coffee from Vietnam, an emblematic coffee produced on plantations in this province. Carefully cultivated, this particular variety reveals a complex aroma profile and a unique mouthfeel. Rong Keo coffee is a source of pride for Vietnam, both locally and internationally. Today, Vietnamese coffee shops are becoming popular tasting destinations, attracting local and international customers. In France, coffee lovers rarely find Vietnamese products online or in stores. Every order of whole-bean coffee at Les Torréfacteurs Français writes a new page in history. Your order will bring together tradition and modernity.
