About Hoppenworth & Ploch
Hoppenworth & Ploch stands for high-quality specialty coffees from our own roastery paired with in-depth know-how on all coffee-related topics and a relaxed atmosphere in which our guests feel comfortable.
About Hoppenworth & Ploch
We are a young coffee roastery from Frankfurt am Main with a café each in the new old town, in the Nordend, and of course on the Westend campus of the University of Frankfurt. Our declared goal when roasting is to work out the taste of the highest quality green coffee from all over the world in the best possible way. Good coffee starts long before it ends up in our roasting plant in Frankfurt because the taste and quality of the origin are influenced in the long term when the coffee beans are grown and harvested. So we are continuing the dedicated work that has already been done and bringing the aromas of various coffee varieties into the cup. When purchasing, we, therefore, rely exclusively on established green coffee dealers with direct contact with the coffee farmers who offer the qualities we are looking for. We do not buy anonymized green coffees where it is impossible to see what is happening on site.
The roasting process
We have mainly dedicated ourselves to the light roasts, as these allow the full complexity of the various origins to be experienced. But we also have a selection of darker roasts in the Specialty Coffee range for fans of more classic and tart coffee beans. We not only roast for our own cafés but also supply coffee for restaurants and offices. We always make sure that our partners also have high-quality machines and trained staff. Wherever it is necessary, we are available with know-how, personnel training, and high-quality equipment.
For private customers, we offer our roasting and selected coffee accessories for purchase at our locations and of course in the online shop. If you are still looking for your favorite and like to enjoy your coffee at home, you might find it in our coffee tasting package or in the coffee subscription, which means that our latest coffee will be delivered to your mailbox free of charge every month. Ideal for everyone who is just as enthusiastic about coffee as we are!
Organic coffee: the benefits of organic farming
Higher demand for organic coffee also means that awareness for organic cultivation is created. At the same time, the lack of pesticide use protects the soil and improves working conditions for employees on the farms. We always have a selection of organic coffee in our range, the Worka from Ethiopia, La Coipa from Peru, Belen Inza from Colombia, and the organic espresso Copper Blend (Brazil, India, Ethiopia). If the organic label is on the coffee, it means that the green coffee in the country of origin and our coffee roastery each have an organic certification.
Organic coffee: why not all of our coffees are certified organic
This is because the supply of certified organic coffee beans is significantly lower. The price of organic certification plays a major role here. Because not every farm can afford this certification for organic coffee. Regardless of certification, we always pay attention to natural cultivation in the countries of origin and therefore have many great coffees that do not bear the organic seal. These usually come from smallholders.
