Description

House Decaf Blend

Tasting Notes: Chocolate,Caramel, Nutty
Roast Degree: Medium – Dark
Process: Natural / Sugar Cane / Swiss Water
Varietal: Mixed
Elevation: 1650-1900masl

This is a delicious decaf blend from Ethiopia and two decaf Brazil Coffees. We roast this coffee to a medium / dark profile, which gives notes of dark chocolate and caramel, making it a perfect coffee for mixing with milk of your choice. Decaf coffee began its journey in the early 1900s when a German merchant, ‘Ludwig Roselius‘, accidentally discovered the process after a seawater-soaked coffee shipment lost caffeine but retained its flavour. While there are a number of different ways to create decaf coffee today, sea water is not still used.

The Ethiopian Part is one of the nicest decaf coffees we have tried and tastes just like a caramel chocolate digestive with a subtle fruit finish.

This coffee is sourced from the Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (OCFCU), a farmer-owned union based in Ethiopia’s Oromia region, where highland Arabica coffee is cultivated under favorable climatic conditions and long-established agricultural practices. Established in 1999, the union brings together numerous primary cooperatives and a wide network of smallholder farmers, coordinating cultivation, processing, quality control, and marketing in order to represent grower interests while supplying consistent, export-grade coffee to international buyers.

The Swiss Water Brazil goes through a Process that is a 100% chemical-free option for decaffeination. It was discovered in the 1930s in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, and is commercialized by the Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee Company Inc, founded in 1988. This is one of our favourite decafs and it tends to retain more complexity and sweetness than other methods.
