This coffee comes from the Uraga district in the Guji Zone in southern Ethiopia. Around 130 smallholder farmers from the village of Muda farm small plots at an altitude of about 2,170 m and deliver their cherries to the Tatesa processing station.
The coffee is processed by Welichu Wachu, a company based in Addis Ababa that works with several hundred producers across the country and places a strong emphasis on quality development, careful harvesting, and farmer training. At the Tatesa site, lots are produced that stand out for both their clean processing and distinct characteristics of origin.
The cherries are dried as Natural on raised beds. The process uses the so-called “Five-Seven-Eleven” method: several drying and resting phases ensure even fermentation and an especially clear flavor profile. After drying, the coffee rests in storage before being prepared for export in Addis Ababa.
