About The Buena Vista Roastery
We believe that following the guidance of Indigenous Wisdom, and looking 7 generations forward and 7 generations behind, is essential when guiding our support of our farmers, our community, and our employees.
We believe that our own long term longevity is intrinsically linked to the health of the planet and humanity.
We believe in limiting non-essential inputs to our business.
We believe that good products start with the raw resources from which they are derived; we will work as best we can to encourage that those raw resources are sourced with the most environmentally and socially aware practices possible from around the world.
We believe that people should be treated with respect and integrity. These are people intimately involved with the Roastery as well as vendors, customers, and others we come into contact with and work with.
We believe that while an Organic and Fair Trade certification is desired, many farmers, while practicing these standards, cannot afford the certification and we work to support these farms as well.
We believe that the story of the people on each estate we sources from is essential to understand and pass along to our customers.
We also believe that the ability to make change begins at home. Because of this belief we stay involved in our community and supporting the work of others bringing powerful change and enhancing the lives of others.
BECAUSE OF THESE BELIEFS

We source 100% Organic , Specialty Grade Coffee and maintain Specialty Coffee Association and Fair Trade certifications. At our core, Holistic Management is the framework for our decision-making and comprises our guiding principles. The retail packaging we use is compostable Biotre material and decreased our carbon footprint by up to 200%. In house, we recycle all plastic, metal, jute, packaging materials, cardboard and paper used in our daily processing.
We support those in the coffee growing industry through micro-credit loans. Our Kiva.org team makes loans to farmers around the globe, understanding that access to capital can change the lives of individuals, their families, and their communities.
We have created a program called Coffees for a Cause, where we partner with organizations making a difference in the world, and support them through the sales of specific coffees. Check out our Coffees for a Cause page for our most recent partnerships.
We are proud to be members of the Madres e Hijos Artisan Project, supporting women, families, and communities around the world.
OUR COMPANY
We have been roasting Specialty coffee in Buena Vista since 1994. Bill and Cheryl Mehaffeystarted roasting Bongo Billy's Coffees and introduced coffee and an incredible cafe experience to Buena Vista.
Joel and Laurie purchased Bongo Billy's in 2007 and added the brand, the Buena Vista Roastery. The intention was to build awareness for the incredible town they called home, and create larger brand recognition. Mission accomplished, Buena Vista Roastery Coffee can be found around the country.
We are on-demand, small batch roasters. This means we roast your coffee when you place your order. Because of this your order will normally ship the day after we receive it. If you choose Priority Mail for the delivery option, here is a USPS map showing the estimated delivery schedule. And here is a UPS map, showing the same.
