Organic pioneer since 1979
In the summer of 1979, company founder Ulrich Walter took over a health food store in the small town of Diepholz in northern Germany.
He quickly finds out that there is no such thing as organic quality tea, coffee and spices. So he goes on a search. His travels take him to southern France, Egypt and later to India.
The small organic shop Lebensbaum becomes a medium-sized company that specializes in the production of tea , coffee and spices in organic quality. Lebensbaum continues to source its raw materials directly from its cultivation partners . This enables a careful selection of ingredients and guarantees the good taste of the products. Lebensbaum does not use any flavor enhancers or additives.
The synthesis of natural enjoyment, ecological foresight and social responsibility is a successful corporate concept. Lebensbaum has received several awards for this. Among other things, in 2014 with the CSR Prize of the Federal Government of Germany and in 2015 with the German Sustainability Prize . In 2016, Lebensbaum took 1st place in the IÖW ranking of the best German sustainability reports. Lebensbaum was honored for its exemplary transparency.
In the style of the house
In the mid-1980s, Das Kleine Café was integrated into the Lebensbaum organic store and after shopping, ice cream and cake - homemade - as well as cosiness and art were waiting for customers here. As a café owner, you experience first hand what it means to be a good host. And above all: what the needs of a restaurateur are. And so a large consumer range and expert service at Lebensbaum were part of it from an early stage.
Today, more and more restaurateurs and community caterers attach importance to organic in their menus. We are happy about that and we tailor our offer accordingly: We offer a wide range, from herbal salt in a 25-kilo sack to fruit tea in a kilo bag and vending coffee.
We also have a lot for environmentally friendly restaurant and kitchen equipment. For example, FSC-certified counter displays for tea boxes, portioned cane sugar from organic farming or sustainable tableware.
