Tiramisu Affogato

Tiramisu affogato is a delightful dessert that combines two classic Italian treats: tiramisu and affogato. Tiramisu is a layered dessert made with ladyfingers dipped in coffee and layered with a rich mascarpone cream, while affogato is a dessert where a scoop of vanilla ice cream is “drowned” or “drowned” in hot espresso. When these two desserts are combined, you get a delicious tiramisu affogato.

To make tiramisu affogato, you will need the following ingredients:

  • Ladyfingers (enough to serve your desired number of portions)
  • Strong brewed espresso or strong coffee
  • Mascarpone cheese
  • Sugar or Maple Syrup
  • Whipping cream
  • Vanilla extract
  • Cocoa powder (for dusting)

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to make tiramisu affogato:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth and creamy.
  2. In a separate bowl, whip the whipping cream until soft peaks form. Then, gently fold it into the mascarpone mixture.
  3. Prepare your serving glasses or bowls. You can use small glasses or traditional tiramisu serving dishes.
  4. Place the ladyfinger at the bottom of each serving glass or bowl.
  5. Spoon a layer of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers, covering them completely.
  6. Repeat the process of layering ladyfingers and mascarpone cream until you have filled the glasses or bowls.
  7. Brew a fresh espresso over the ladyfinger and mascarpone cream mix.
  8. Add a layer of mascarpone cream on top.
  9. Place the tiramisu affogato in the refrigerator and allow it to chill for at least a couple of hours or until set.
  10. Just before serving, make a fresh cup of strong espresso or coffee.
  11. Remove the tiramisu affogato from the refrigerator and you can pour another shot of hot espresso or coffee over each serving. The hot liquid will “drown” the dessert.
  12. Finish by dusting the top of each tiramisu affogato with cocoa powder for a decorative touch.
  13. You can also add one small scoop of Vanilla ice.
  14. Serve immediately and enjoy the delicious combination of creamy tiramisu and the rich flavors of the coffee.

Tiramisu affogato is a delightful dessert that can be enjoyed on its own or as a sweet ending to a meal. The combination of the creamy mascarpone and coffee-soaked ladyfingers creates a harmonious and indulgent treat.
