Ristretto coffee: a small and strong cup of coffee

Fancy a strong/concentrated coffee? Then a Ristretto coffee might be something for you! The Ristretto is loved by the Italians for its full and strong taste. Coffee originated in the south of Italy, where they like a strong cup of coffee! Would you like to enjoy a delicious Ristretto at home? Then you can enjoy your meal with our recipe.

What is a Ristretto coffee?

Where you use 30 milliliters of water with an espresso, this is only 15 milliliters with a Ristretto. The ground amount of coffee and the throughput time remain the same. This ensures a full-bodied coffee with a strong taste. The Ristretto releases more oils and aromas than an espresso, while the Ristretto does contain less caffeine. A Ristretto contains 15 to 20 milliliters of water, but with an espresso, this is 30 to 40 milliliters. In short: a small, tough container.

Which coffee beans?

When preparing a Ristretto, you should preferably use coffee beans with a spicy taste. Therefore, choose coffee beans with a dark roast. This ensures a thicker texture and a more intense taste than with the espresso. You drink it in just one gulp.
