Description

We are into the late harvest season of Honduras, this shipment just arrived at our ports and we are thrilled to have these coffees in, safely stored in our green room. This is the first lot of this arrival to share with you, from farmer Geovany Lara and his farm Los Cedros. Growing coffee since 2010, he first sold his crop to conventional channels, but the profits weren’t enough to make a living. But in 2018, Geovany’s brother encouraged him to prepare his coffee to specialty standards and he was able to get in touch with Benjamin Paz of San Vicente mill, and since he’s seen his profits bring back a much larger return for his family.

This is as micro as it gets, 1.25 hectare farm planted with 50% Pacas (classic, iconic for the region) and 50% Ihcafe, a new one at Kuma, is a Caturra and Sarchimor hybrid created in Honduras in the 1990s. All good with us, as this coffee cups brilliantly. Shining granny smith apple acidity, and a graham cracker sweetness I could only describe as graham cracker pie crust. Oat milk mouthfeel finishes out what is a strong, structured home run of a coffee. This is top tier material, cheers to Geovany for growing this coffee!
