“Alpukat” is the Indonesian word for avocado. Yes, this is avocado coffee. It’s made from a mixture of avocado, vanilla, coffee, and condensed milk and served over ice for a creamy and refreshing treat that’s a perfect fit for its tropical homeland.
Adding avocado makes it quite filling for a drink, so it is often drunk as an afternoon snack or a creamy breakfast to start the day. It sits on the flavor line of coffee and smoothie, with some providers blending the mixture thoroughly to give it a proper smoothie consistency.
Although the idea of a sweetened avocado drink sounds unusual, in Southeast Asia, avocados are much more regarded as the fruit they are.
What you need for this recipe:
- ½ ripe avocado
- 1 cup of strong brewed coffee, cooled
- ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk
- ½ cup cold milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups of ice cubes
- Blender
How do you prepare this iced coffee?
- Place everything except the ice in a blender and puree the mixture. You can add the ice for a smoothie rather than a drink.
- Divide the ice cubes between two chilled glasses.
- Pour half of the pureed mixture into each of the glasses. Enjoy!
