Extensive preparation of the latte and syrup
We’ve divided the list of things you need into two parts. First, we’ll tell you how to make the syrup. Once that’s resolved, we’ll go through the steps to create the perfect coconut latte.
The entire recipe makes one latte. However, the syrup portion of the formula is enough for 12-24 lattes. So, once you’ve made your syrup, you’ll have enough for a generous batch of lattes.
Are you ready for it? Let’s start. Once you’ve pulled your ingredients together, set things aside for the latte. We’ll come back to that after the syrup.

What you need for the syrup
A quarter cup of coconut milk
Half a cup of coconut sugar
A quarter cup of water
Guard
Saucepan
Glass jar with lid

Instructions for the syrup
Add water, coconut milk, and coconut sugar to your saucepan.
Whisk the concoction over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture bubbles, then remove it from the heat and let it cool.
Pour the cooled liquid into the glass jar and put the lid on. Store the jar in the refrigerator.
Now that your syrup is made and safely stored in the fridge, it’s time to get out your coffee-making equipment.

Instructions for making the coconut latte
1. Prepare your coffee
You have a few options here. Ideally, you have an espresso machine at home. If so, turn it on and prepare two shots.
But if you don’t have an espresso machine, don’t panic. You can always make an ‘almost espresso’ using a moka pot or a robust coffee using a French press or a Chemex. It is technically no longer a latte, but it comes pretty close.

2. Add the coconut syrup.
Add 1 or 2 tablespoons of your favored new coconut syrup to your coffee. How much depends on your preference, as the amount you add will affect the sweetness and concentration of the coconut flavor.
Tip: As with many recipes, it is best to take it slow. Especially if this is your first time, start with a tablespoon of syrup and add more until you find the perfect amount.

3. Beat the milk
If you have that espresso machine, great. Then froth that milk. If not, pour the milk into a saucepan over medium heat and whisk it briskly and constantly as it heats up. With this method, there is more work, but you will have beautiful frothed milk.
Tip: Froth the milk until it is thick enough to stick lightly to the edge of the pan when you swirl it around a bit.

4. Pour the milk
Pouring the milk can be as simple as adding the milk to the coffee/coconut syrup mixture. But if you want to put your barista skills to the test, you can challenge yourself with some latte art.

5. Add garnish (optional)
If you’re a fan of garnishes, you can add a few, mainly if you’re serving this drink to others. One option is to sprinkle a little coconut sugar over your latte foam. Another option is to add some coconut flakes. Or add both!
Tip: If you want to add coconut flakes, consider toasting them first!
A final suggestion is to buy some tiny cocktail umbrellas to give your coconut latte a tropical flare!

Conclusion
Although coconut has been used in various ways in recent years, using it in a latte is unique, special, and downright delicious.
