    Coffee plantations around the world…

Where does coffee grow? Coffee plantations are in all regions where the temperature is constant around 22 degrees Celsius. From Mexico to Australia via Colombia, Brazil and Africa. There are great coffee growing regions and smaller ones, but big does not necessarily mean quality!

In fact, if we wanted to describe the ideal region, it would be located at altitude and would have volcanic soil where the temperature never drops below 20 degrees. At an altitude of 2,500 to 3,000 feet, growing coffee requires: abundant and regular rainfall, clayey soil rich in organic matter, not flooded and deep, as well as plenty of sunshine. Here is a plant ready to pick. This is how harvesting by hand promotes a better selection of beans that are ready to be dried. Bean moisture plays an important role during roasting and must be controlled. Of course, claiming that the best coffee beans in the world come from a particular place is above all a matter of taste and consumer appreciation.

The roaster also plays an important role in the flavor of the coffee, which does not always depend on the price.

I particularly like coffees from Hawaii, as well as those from the Kona region. Coffees from certain regions of Africa are also very popular. Moreover, those from the Vietnam region are of poor quality compared to the best coffees on the market. The two main varieties of grain-producing trees or shrubs are Arabica and Robusta. Brûleries Honoré prefers to use Arabica beans, but there are good Robustas.

Finally, ask your roaster where their coffee beans come from and the name of the farm that produces them. This will give you a good idea of the quality of its coffees.

    Good tasting!
