Overlooking Lake Kivu at an altitude of roughly 5,400 feet in the Western Rwandan mountains lies the Karongi District. It is an area of lush, temperate upland forest, home to golden monkeys, mountain gorillas, and the Kopakama Cooperative, whose gatherers source this small dense bean from local family farms. The Rwandan Kopakama is packed full with notes of blackcurrant, dried fruit, and a refreshing gingerbread spice.
