Rwanda – Karambi – Partners Coffee
WHY IT’S SPECIAL
We love this time of year—fresh coffees have just arrived from our farm relationships in the Southern Hemisphere. This is our fourth year buying coffee from the Karambi Washing Station, located along the shores of Lake Kivu in Rwanda’s Western Province.
This year we’ve decided to release Karambi in unison with Gahahe (from neighboring Burundi). Though the two countries share mutual history, climate, and agricultural practices, their coffees can be quite different in flavor. We like to say Rwanda’s coffees are more like fresh fruit and Burundi’s are more like dried fruit.
Karambi’s coffee is fresh and elegant—expect sweet, ripe, and subtly floral fruit flavors like papaya, cantaloupe, and apricot balanced by a sweetness resembling raw sugar and vanilla bean.
