74-year-old Daniel Edilberto Gomez comes from a long line of farmworkers. He grew up in Herrera, Tolima, and lived there with his parents until 2002. From that time, he worked his way through the coffee-producing region of Colombia, primarily picking coffee cherries. On this journey, he met his wife with whom he now has 3 kids. After more than a decade of hard work as seasonal labor, he was finally able to, with the help of friends and family, purchase his own piece of land.
