Description
Jose Maria Rivera, Colombia
Jose Maria Rivera has been growing coffee for over 30 years at his farm, Torres, located in the municipality of Inza, near Pedregal, in the Cauca Department of Colombia.
For the last 18 years, Sr. Rivera has belonged to an association of coffee producers from around Inza called Asorcafe. The association was set up initially to help producers realize better prices for their coffee through a focus on improved quality. Since then, Asorcafe has also functioned as a framework to improve eduction and social conditions for members and their families.
Like other members of the association, Sr. Rivera manages a mixed bag of coffee varieties (Caturra, Typica, Bourbon, Castillo) on a farm that’s less than 5 acres. The coffee is harvested by hand, depulped and left to ferment for 24-48 hours before being rinsed and moved to a parabolic dryer for 1-2 weeks, depending on climate.
This is one of the first single origin Colombia coffees that we’ve offered in some time. This is an extremely small lot of coffee (less than 5 bags) so we will be offering it while supply lasts!
