Description

Carbonic Macerated Honey – Pink Bourbon. A mouthful to say and to drink. We brewed this coffee at a special event and to say it was a hit – would be an understatement. Very sweet and drinkable with a wonderful floral finish. We find the sweetness of pineapple, the creaminess of mango lassi, and the earthy floral of chamomile. This coffee is special and we’d like to thank Wilder Lazo and his team for their hard work, complicated processing, and for the rare varietal that is pink bourbon.

Thank you to Cabinet for sharing another incredible coffee with us.

The thing is, we could roll out a special release like this – sell it and move on to the next small treasure. However, with a coffee like this, that we hope will find a home nationally, it deserves something a little more. This coffee is the first of what we hope is a line of special release coffees tied to an organization or cause we believe in and that we think deserves more attention. For this release, we have partnered with ArtForce Iowa and Caffeine Crawl to do just that.

“The mission of ArtForce Iowa is to create opportunities for youth to transform through art. Our role is not to transform youth, but rather, to create the environment for them to transform themselves and achieve their aspirations. This involves intentionally establishing safe spaces for youth to express themselves creatively and to have access to creative tools to design their own healing journey.” From sharing meals and mentorship to art shows and opportunities, we believe in ArtForce Iowa’s mission. We hope you will explore more about them and consider supporting their cause.

The artwork for this coffee’s labels comes from a RISE AmeriCorps member serving at ArtFoce Iowa, December Paw. An international business major at Drake University, we love her colourful and intricate work. Thank you, December for bringing this project full circle.

Caffeine Crawl is the specialty coffee industry’s top travelling event for consumers and has hosted over 125 events across the country for the last decade. “It’s exciting to be part of this coffee collaboration with them.” Jason Burton, the owner of Caffeine Crawl has a background in design and a passion for creative partnerships with a charitable giving connection. “Caffeine Crawl has been wanting to do an event or project in Iowa for years, and this partnership has been a great way to connect relationships that are building and the passion for the arts. The craft of fine art, coffee sourcing and roasting, and entertaining events come together in one creative package.” We’d like to thank Jason for his design input, help with national marketing, and the push to get this project moving.

At Windmill, we have decided to donate $5 of every bag sold of this coffee to ArtForce Iowa. It feels wonderful to be able to purchase a coffee like this, at a deservedly premium price, and tie its appeal to raising awareness of an organization we believe in. We have roughly 150, 10 oz bags remaining of this coffee. Get it while you can!
