The River Coffee Company is a coffee shop specializing in crafted coffee, located in the heart of Decatur, IL. We value the handmade craftsmanship of great coffee, but more importantly we value people and use coffee as a means to connect with our community.
Our Slow Bar atmosphere allows us to focus on both coffee and people simultaneously. We first opened our doors in September of 2017. But after a fire destroyed our original location in April of 2019, we weren’t sure what our future would hold.
“It was a devastating fire. That was a little bit of our heart and soul that we put into that, a little blood, sweat and tears,” said owner, Aaron Moma.
Our prayers led us to the other end of downtown Decatur, where we reopened our coffee shop in the former location of Decatur Brew Works.
We live downtown. We work downtown. And we wanted to stay downtown. This is our community.
And while the memories made at our original location will hold a special place in our hearts, we are incredibly optimistic about the future. We have our old customers and some new faces, too. It has been good. We look forward to making our new space one that is just as warm and inviting as our first.
