Description

Very close to where coffee farms sit in Jaen, there is a hidden 50-meter cascade named Velo de Novia because the waterfalls and forms the shape of a beautiful bride veil. The small-scale coffee producers of Velo de Novia are located in a region where the variety of microclimates, along with the nature reserves that surround their farms, help protect biological diversity and the environment. The remoteness of coffee farms in Peru coupled with the lack of infrastructure has traditionally impeded access to specialty markets, but with increased visibility and technological support, this is quickly changing. Comprised of Typica, Catuai, and Pache varietals grown between 1500-1800 MASL this fully washed coffee is completely sun-dried on covered beds and patios. It is grown by 20 small-scale coffee producers with farms averaging 2.5 hectares. Velo de Novia is Loyal’s first single-origin offering from Peru that showcases what the region has to offer. Its comfortable approachability perfectly balances the relationship between bright citrus acidity and caramelized sugars. We taste notes of Apple Pie, Citrus, and Caramel.
