NEW! ETHIOPIA – NATURAL GUJI

Back in 2019, we offered this coffee as a Limited Release lot and we’re blown away with the quality and flavors found in the brewed cup. Through the process of sampling fresh crop Ethiopian lots for 2020, this coffee found its way back to us and we jumped on the opportunity to purchase more of it and this year in 2021 we are happy to be offering it AGAIN!

This incredible lot is from Kedir Hassan, the owner of the Hambela washing station located in “Dabaye,” a small town in Guji. Kedir Hassan is the brother of Esmael Hassan, who manages another amazing farm and washing station that you may have heard of, Kayon Mountain. Our importing partners at Coffee Shrub have been working with Kedir and the Hambela station for a number of years and report that Kedir is a proficient and capable engineer as well as coffee farmer, having built the entire Hambela station in one season. WOW! Of course he did not complete Hambela on his own, and thanks to his long standing connection with the people in this area, he had much needed community support and this coffee demonstrates that work.

The Hambela washing station sits at 1816 meters above sea level and coffee is grown as high as 2100 meters above sea level (~6800 ft). Kedir mostly purchases coffee from farmers in the surrounding kebeles of Buliye, Wamana, Borticha, Dari Rogicha and Dabaye, of course.
