The Farm

Grace Morales’ grandfather named his farm Cruz Loma, after the two paths that crossed high on the hill back when no roads connected to the farm. Coffee is not the only thing growing at Cruz Loma. The 350-hectare farm is only 2###b#< coffee. The farm also produces many other fruits and vegetables. This coffee is super special! It is Sidra, a relatively new varietal, which is a hybrid of Typica and Red Bourbon found mainly in Ecuador (but being cultivated in a few other places as well. Grown at 1,450 MASL the coffee cherries are pulped and fermented without water, then dried in the shade for an extended amount of time. This is known as honey processed.

This is the fourth year Loyal has purchased this coffee! Cruz Loma is a special place that is surrounded by virgin jungle. Grace and her family are passionate about producing high-quality food and coffee while respecting the delicate biodiversity of the land and practicing excellent farming practices. These qualities really come through in the cup. It’s very smooth with a nice well-rounded body, sweetness, and complexity. We taste notes of Blackberry, Mango, and Caramel.
