This grand cru, grown around the El Triunfo biosphere reserve, is a model of agroforestry. The coffee plantations form a buffer zone which contributes to safeguarding one of the richest natural reserves in the world. Many plant species beneficial to the exploitation under shade of coffee trees are found in this reserve, which also shelters endangered endemic species such as the jaguar and the puma.
