For more than 20 years the name "Freshness Depot Gundolf Frese" has stood for top quality food and luxury foods and excellent service.

Our story begins a good 90 years ago ...

... in Tuscany, more precisely in the small town of Montecatini Terme. It was in the early 30s when Mr. Ugo Incerpi, owner of Bar New York, bought a machine for roasting coffee in order to be able to offer an exceptional product to the select public who came to the temple city for spa treatments.

And the result? His coffee was so excellent that word of it got around within a very short time and even guests from Florence traveled on Sundays to enjoy the coffee at "Sor Ugo".The colored woman with the coffee beans on the packaging has been the trademark of "Caffé New York" since the mid-30s. In the 50s / 60s Mr. Incerpi's son-in-law, Oscar Onori succeeded in expanding the "one-man business" into a roasting house, and from now on the "Caffé New York" was sold to bars and restaurants all over Tuscany.

When you try a cup of our coffee - perhaps in your favorite pub - close your eyes and remember that 90 years of family tradition can be found in this sip.

The coffee culture of Italy is world-famous. Between the Alps and Sicily, coffee is celebrated in a wide variety of varieties in around 130,000 bars. The importance of coffee in Italy is shown by the enormous consumption - around ten billion cups per year.
Coffee has since made its triumphal march around the world.

The typical variants such as espresso and cappuccino are known everywhere. Espresso is particularly popular with us as a digestif. Because of the intense and strong aroma, espresso is considered to have a lot of caffeine. In reality, depending on the mix, it contains less caffeine than normal coffee beans. Thanks to the special roasting process, espresso also has less acidity and is therefore very easy to digest.

The consumption of espresso in Germany has risen continuously in recent years. Around 6,000 tons of these fine beans are imported annually. The noble beans are divided into two categories: Arabica and Robusta.
The finer of the two varieties is the Arabica bean. It was brought to Arabia by the Arabs from East Africa as early as the 15th century. It contains only half as much caffeine as the Robusta bean and has the aroma that will make coffee lovers rave about it.

We see ourselves as a partner for the trade and offer advice and support for the catering industry. It is our greatest wish that our international products can please you in Germany. Enjoy our Caffé New York!
