Description

Delicious on its own or paired with milk, Cafe Francais encapsulates what we think great espresso should taste like: Chocolate, nut, caramel and a hint of orange acidity.

Cafe Francais was created with two aims in mind.

Firstly, we wanted a blend that was fully traceable and responsible. These are very important to us at Redber. We want the farmers and producers of our coffees to be treated and paid fairly. We also want to know the practices of the farms and whether they are protecting the environment. As we know exactly where this blend is coming from and who is producing it for us, we can say with confidence that it is organic and that each farm takes great care in supporting local biodiversity.

Secondly, we wanted to provide a perfect espresso blend to cafes and customers alike. Delicious on its own or paired with milk, Cafe Francais encapsulates what we think great espresso should taste like: Chocolate, nut, caramel and a hint of orange acidity.

With social and environmental issues seemingly ever-present, we firmly believe in making any positive and responsible change that we can to support our supply chain and reduce our environmental impact and we are very proud to be able to share this with our customers.

Cafe Francais is a blend of two single origin coffees. See below for extra details on each.

Honduras Santa Rosa – SCA 84

Farmed in the south of Honduras near El Paraiso, Santa Rosa farm has 360 hectares and up to 800 employees! All profits of the coffee are shared fairly among the employees.

The latest addition to the farm is a state of the art wet mill which reduces wastage and improves the processing of the coffee. The whole production process is supported by a quality technician to ensure that SCA standards are met and that the farm remains to be organic and sustainable.

Santa Rosa boasts a very exciting profile. On the palate, flavours of rich cacao and spicy nutmeg start, followed by a lasting orange acidity. The body of the coffee is creamy and deep and the aroma intense with dark chocolate.

Brazil Cachoeira – SCA 83

DBarbosa produces speciality coffee on High Cerrado, Minas Gerais in the east of Brazil. The Dbarbosa farm has been family run for four generations and great care is placed in both the quality of the coffee and the sustainability of the production. Danilo, the head of the family and the farm has recently added 186 hectares of land to a local nature reserve so that endemic wildlife can flourish.

Cachoiera has a typically Brazilian sweetness similar to caramel with tropical fruit and a smooth velvety mouthfeel. Paired with milk it epitomises the classic flavours of café coffee; chocolate, caramel and a fruity sweetness.

We are in constant contact with the DBarbosa farm and enjoy regular updates of their successes, including most recently a Cup of Excellence award.
