When it comes to growing coffee, Rwanda is at more than a “high level” as the average altitude at which coffee is grown is around 1800m! (By comparison, Brazil grows coffee at much lower altitudes - 200 to 500 m.) Endless slopes, dense forests and lush vegetation on the one hand, and fertile volcanic soil on the other allow Rwandan farmers to be creative in deciding what to do. coffee will surprise us.
VISIT YOUR COFFEE PLANTATION, Mubuga
A few minutes from the beautiful Kivu Lake is the Mubuga plantation, where coffee is processed and dried. They won the prestigious "Cup of Excellence" competition and received the title of the highest quality coffee in the region.
On average, the Mubuga plantation processes about 480 tonnes of coffee a year. They get it from farmers in the region, almost 40% of whom are women.
