With 777 Mayan farmers holding small plots on remote mountainsides in the Chiapan highlands, Yachil Xojobal Chu’lchan (“new light in the sky” in Tzeltal) exports over 130 tons of high-quality coffee each year, though recent yields have been diminished by the impacts of la Roya.
