The AeroPress: one of the best methods of making coffee

Does the name Aeropress mean anything to you? No? That is a shame because this is one of the best methods to make a nice cup of coffee. This reasonably new invention has caused quite a stir in the coffee world, and now it has its own World Championship. Initially, the invention was popular with coffee lovers, who like to make their own coffee at home, but now cafes serving various coffee have it on the menu.

The Aeropress was invented five years ago by Alan Adler. He was also the one who designed the Aerobie frisbee. When I first heard about Aeropress, I thought it was another novelty, especially for magazine and late-night TV commercials. Because how can someone who makes Frisbees and yo-yos know anything about making coffee?

A lot. The Aeropress made some of the best cups of coffee I’ve ever had. By the way, some trendy cafes use it as their only method of brewing filtered coffee. The reason Adler invented the Aeropress was that he liked to drink a full-flavored cup of coffee brewed using the cafetiere method, but then the coffee had to contain less residue, be more precise, and taste less acidic.

The Aeropress is not only super easy to use, but you can experiment endlessly with it. A significant advantage of the Aeropress is that you can work with different grinds, turnaround times, and water temperatures to get new results. However, this can also unintentionally lead to you spending hours brewing the ‘perfect’ cup of coffee. The Aeropress is also straightforward to clean, and it is so handy that you can effortlessly put it in your travel luggage or with your camping gear. The price is only around €50. Spoon in the coffee mixture, pour in hot water, and strain.
